Hi there, I just tried adding the chat shortcode with my channel ID to my homepage and this appeared… ‘Updating failed. The response is not a valid JSON response.’ What do I do in this case?

alexandra it would help if you can provide a screenshot, not understanding where or how that message appeared, also it’s unprecedented afaik
please also confirm the respective channel was active and you were being logged in (or not) when issue surfacedJune 29, 2020 at 1:34 pm #80011
Hi Gabriel. The channel was not active, I realise that may have been the issue… Where do I add the shortcode when channel is active?June 29, 2020 at 1:56 pm #80014
The channel I’m wanting to link the live chat to is a pay per view channel, does that make any difference?June 29, 2020 at 3:23 pm #80024
I tried adding the shortcode to the product and the page of live stream whilst testing my live channel and both times this did not pop up with any chat… wanting to upgrade but only when I know this option is working! Thank youJune 30, 2020 at 8:03 am #80098
Hi Alexandra, please send us a a link to the page or a screenshot, ic no good reason for it not to pop upJune 30, 2020 at 2:56 pm #80164donnyParticipant
I’m having 2 issues:
1) I’m trying to get the chat plug in to work. It seems like it only works if you are “logged in” – in my case – logged in to WordPress, I believe – when I paste the URL of my live event to a different browser – I cannot use the chat function. Can the chat function be made so people don’t need to be “logged in” to use it?
2) Also – I’m pasting the chat code: [wpstream_chat id=”1234″] onto the post where I am streaming my live video from – and the chat ends up on the top of the page, and I’d like the chat to be below the video window.June 30, 2020 at 3:28 pm #80168tom-3636Participant
You’re lucky you can even post a reply. I have been trying but it just doesn’t let me. I am having an issue too.
I keep keep getting this error in my console.
Uncaught DOMException: Failed to construct ‘WebSocket’: The URL ‘undefined’ is invalid.
